Day 13

Day 13: Altnaharra to John O’Groats

The Final Day. An early start and a big incentive to push on. We’re almost there!

Setting away from Altnaharra, 25 miles of peaceful singletrack road is ahead with not a lot going on other than the sound of nature. We pass alongside Loch Naver and then it’s downwards for a couple of hours until we arrive at Bettyhill.

We’re then on the Northern coastline of Scotland and while it’s looking hilly, the compensation for this will be the stunning views as we pass through many small villages and their beaches including Strathy and Melvich Beach before continuing on to Thurso.

Thurso is around 55 mile in and our last stop of the day. We’ll have lunch before we get back on the bikes to traverse along the remaining flat coastline passing Dunnet Head and arriving into John O’Groats a little later.

Emotions to be likely running high, we’ll spend some time taking it all in and absorb the fact that we’ve cycled LEJOG before making our way back to Thurso for an evening of celebration and reminiscing.
