Day 5

Day 5: Bucknell to Warrington

Waking up in England again, today is our longest day at 96 mile. We start off on the bike for 25 mile crossing over the Shropshire Hills. Our first village of the day is Clun with sights of the ruined Clun Castle. After a few hours pedalling we head North East to Shrewsbury, criss-crossing the borders between England and Wales.

Plodding on through Shrewsbury and along the River Severn, we go north with Chester as our aim. Crossing the England/Wales borders again multiple times, the route then begins to flatten off from a village called Wem around 55 mile in.

Continuing on, we cycle round the outskirts of Chester and then again focus on heading north-east for 20 odd mile where we’ll land in Warrington, crossing the Mersey on the approach.
